Along with these, I’ve attended UG Practical exam duties

ICU & AMC DUTIES

ICU & AMC DUTIES lasted for 5 days, during which I had 12 hour shifts and I’ve learnt the following:

1.) Right way to draw an ABG SAMPLE from radial and femoral artery sites

2.) To put a RYLE’s tube in an intubated patient and a patient without intubation

3.) I’ve seen patient crashing and being intubated and performed CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation)

4.) I’ve inserted a foley’s catheter to a male patient which I never did before

5.) Monitoring patient’s vitals hourly in both ICU & AMC

6.) I also saw how a HEMODIALYSIS CATHETER is inserted for a patient who needed dialysis.

NEPHROLOGY DUTIES

NEPHROLOGY DUTIES lasted for 5 days during which I’ve seen:

1.) how the dialysis machine is connected to the AV fistula of the patients and its working

2.) The presenting symptoms of the patient when they need dialysis immediately like SOB due to Flash pulmonary edema, severe Hypertension

3.) How to manage the above situations

4.) Monitoring all the patient’s vitals before and after dialysis

5.)  Complications which can occur during dialysis

WARD DUTIES

WARD DUTIES lasted for 5 days during which I got to see many cases of different units

I’ve attended rounds and listened to discussions of the cases by Pgs and Hod sir and learnt many take home points

I’ve taken histories of all the patients present in the ward for the day and presented them to the PG who was allotted ward duties since day 1. That helped me know the case details before rounds so that i can participate in the rounds actively.

I’ve helped BDS students to take basic histories of patients.

I’ve updated fever charts of the patients in the ward

I’ve done dressing to a patient who had a foot ulcer but was in medical ward for fever charting

I’ve asked my co interns to update blogs and respective Pajr groups of the patients

PSYCHIATRY POSTINGS

PSYCHIATRY postings lasted for the last 15 days during which I saw many interesting cases like

DELUSIONAL PARASITOSIS

POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER

DEPRESSION

SCHIZOPHRENIA

ALCOHOL DEPENDENCE  SYNDROME

I’ve also visited DEADDICTION ward where patients participated in regular daily activities like PRAYER, TELEVISION, GAMES

The approach to a case in psychiatry was fascinating

I also learned about mental status examination

I attended UG lectures along with my co intern and PG
